Finnish authorities grant Exploration Permit and Enforcement Order for Area 6, targeting January 2027 drilling commencement.

Kingsrose Mining Limited (ASX: KRM) today announced a significant permitting milestone for its Penikat Project in Finland, with the Finnish mining authority, Tukes, granting the Exploration Permit and Enforcement Order for Area 6. Kingsrose Mining Limited is a sustainability-conscious and technically proficient mineral exploration company listed on the ASX, with a discovery-focused strategy targeting critical mineral deposits. Kingsrose CEO, Andy Caruso, highlighted the receipt of these permits as an important step, validating their effective permitting approach in Finland. The company reiterated its target for commencing drilling at Area 6 in January 2027.

Tukes’ decision to grant the Exploration Permit confirms that Kingsrose has met all requirements specified within the Mining Act. This permit authorises 5,000 metres of drilling annually between 1 August and 31 March across successive years. Valid for four years from when the decision becomes legally binding, it also allows for potential extensions in three-year increments, up to a maximum total validity of 15 years. The company noted that all other conditions detailed within the permit align with its expectations and Finnish responsible exploration practices.

Crucially, the Enforcement Order allows for select measures, including a restricted drilling programme, even if the main Exploration Permit faces an appeal. This order specifically permits 3,000 metres of drilling annually, provided buffer zones of 100 metres from Natura 2000 areas in wooded zones or 200 metres in cleared areas are maintained. The appeal window for both permits closes on 20 November 2026. Should appeals be lodged, the Enforcement Order enables drilling to proceed while the Administrative Court of Northern Finland processes the case. Legal advice suggests appeals against Enforcement Orders are prioritised, typically resolved within two to three months, making early 2027 drilling still achievable if an appeal is rejected within this period.
