ASX-listed mining and engineering firm maintains positive momentum with improved free cash flow and reduced net debt.

Alfabs Australia Limited (ASX: AAL) released its quarterly performance update on 15 October 2026 for the period ended 30 September 2026, marking the first quarter of FY27. Alfabs, a diversified Australian mining and engineering company servicing the underground mining, infrastructure and industrial sectors by providing equipment hire, maintenance, fabrication, and installation services, reported continued strong performance. This follows a strategic reset in FY26 focused on cash generation, capital allocation, and balance sheet strength. Notably, no lost time injuries or environmental incidents occurred, with the Engineering Division achieving 365 consecutive days without a lost-time injury.

Operationally, the Mining Division posted robust results, with average daily hire rates increasing 6.3% from the prior quarter to $86.5k per day, largely driven by 12-month hire contracts for Continuous Miner #4 and AX-10 Loader #1. In contrast, the Engineering Division completed the St Mary’s Train Station Upgrade project but navigated subdued market conditions. Contracted work in hand remained relatively flat, and no material contract awards were received, which is expected to impact the division for the remainder of the financial year.

Financially, Alfabs generated $2.4 million in Free-Cash Flow for the quarter, marking its second consecutive period of improved free cash flow. Net debt decreased 3% ($1.0 million) to $35.5 million by quarter-end, an 18% reduction from its March 2026 peak. Significant progress was reported on debt refinancing activities, with advanced negotiations underway with potential financing partners. Six of the seven conditions for dividend reinstatement have now been met, with a successful debt restructuring remaining the final prerequisite. Management expressed confidence in securing an appropriate funding structure.
