ASX-listed Kingsrose Mining Limited has announced the granting of an Exploration Permit and Enforcement Order for Area 6 at its Penikat Project in Finland, paving the way for targeted drilling in early 2027.

Kingsrose Mining Limited (ASX: KRM) has announced a significant development at its Penikat Project in Finland, with the Finnish mining authority (Tukes) granting the Exploration Permit and Enforcement Order for Area 6. This decision marks a crucial permitting milestone for the project, enabling Kingsrose to target the commencement of drilling in January 2027. Kingsrose Mining Limited is a sustainability-conscious and technically proficient mineral exploration company with a discovery-focused strategy, targeting critical mineral deposits like the Penikat PGE-Base Metal project.

The granted Exploration Permit confirms that Kingsrose has met all requirements specified within the Mining Act. This permit authorises up to 5,000 metres of drilling annually between August 1 and March 31, across successive years, and is valid for four years with potential extensions up to 15 years. Concurrently, the Enforcement Order provides an important safeguard, permitting limited drilling of 3,000 metres each year, even if the Exploration Permit faces an appeal. This restricted drilling must maintain a minimum buffer of 100 metres from the Natura 2000 area in wooded zones or 200 metres in cleared areas. Kingsrose CEO Andy Caruso commented that the receipt of the permit and order is an important milestone.

The window for appeals against both the Exploration Permit and Enforcement Order extends until November 20, 2026. Should appeals be lodged, the case will be heard in the Administrative Court of Northern Finland. However, the Enforcement Order allows for a restricted drilling program to proceed during this period. The company understands that appeals against Enforcement Orders are prioritised by the Administrative Court, with cases generally processed within two to three months. If an appeal against the Enforcement Order is rejected within this timeframe, drilling remains possible in early 2027 as planned.
