Axtec Limited (ASX: AXI) has announced the proposed appointment of seasoned fintech founder Andy Taylor as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, alongside a transformational A$1 million capital raising. Axtec is an Australian real estate-focused, AI-enabled technology platform that automates payments, compliance tools, and digital workflows for property transactions, offering various payment and lending solutions. Mr Taylor’s appointment is conditional on the completion of his cornerstone investment in the placement and finalisation of employment terms, marking a significant strategic shift for the company.
Mr Taylor brings over 15 years of experience in building financial technology businesses across lending, neobanking, payments, and artificial intelligence. He previously founded SocietyOne, Australia’s first peer-to-peer lending platform, and later Douugh, which he took to the ASX and subsequently transformed into Stakk (ASX: SKK), focusing on B2B embedded services. His mandate at Axtec is to build upon its existing PaySure payments and lending platform, expanding beyond the real estate vertical to create an AI-native platform that combines shared embedded finance and payments infrastructure with consulting services, executed through a disciplined acquire-and-scale playbook. A core strategic theme will be agentic payments, where AI agents initiate and complete payments.
The company has secured commitments for an A$1 million placement at A$0.01 per share for working capital, with Mr Taylor participating as a cornerstone investor by subscribing for A$250,000 worth of shares. Concurrently, Axtec announced board changes, with current Managing Director Ben Laurance transitioning to Non-Executive Chairman following the retirement of Chairman James Service AM after the upcoming Annual General Meeting. Mr Laurance expressed delight, stating Mr Taylor brings a proven track record and a clear vision for scaling the company’s strong foundations. Mr Taylor added that his focus will be on leveraging Axtec’s valuable payments infrastructure and industry relationships to create an AI-native platform for powering, acquiring, and scaling financial services businesses.
