WIN Metals Ltd (ASX: WIN), an Australian mineral exploration company with a portfolio of quality gold, nickel, and lithium assets across Western Australia, has announced a significant expansion of its Butchers Creek Gold Project in the Kimberley region. The company has entered into two agreements to acquire additional tenure, strategically securing the planned footprint for its Butchers Creek Project tailings storage facility and increasing exploration potential. The total upfront consideration for these acquisitions stands at $115,000.
This expansion involves the acquisition of two granted Exploration Licences from IGO Limited (ASX:IGO) and an exclusive five-year option over an Exploration Licence application from Metal Bank Limited (ASX:MBK). This move will see the Butchers Creek tenure package grow by 62%, bringing its total area to 343 square kilometres. The newly acquired ground is positioned immediately west of the existing Butchers Creek open pit and along strike from known gold workings, including approximately 3.4 kilometres of historical workings at Darcys. Completion of the IGO acquisition is anticipated by 31 December 2026.
Managing Director and CEO, Mr Steve Norregaard, commented that securing these parcels greatly enhances the Butchers Creek project by bringing highly prospective gold areas into the portfolio for modest consideration. He noted that the acquisitions dramatically simplify the proposed mine’s footprint and introduce additional potential sources of mineralisation, increasing development optionality. The new tenure offers opportunities to potentially expand the current Butchers Creek Mineral Resource Estimate of 5.6 million tonnes at 1.98 grams per tonne gold for 359,000 ounces.
