Macro Metals Limited (ASX: M4M) today announced the successful completion of its acquisition of the Yandi South Iron Ore Project on 14 October 2026, following a $1 million payment to Western Iron Ore Pty Ltd. Macro Metals Limited is a mineral exploration, project development, mining and mining services company focused on the delivery of shareholder value through the economic development of natural resource assets and the provision of safe and fit-for-purpose mining services. The company also directly owns a portfolio of iron ore, manganese, and construction material assets. The acquisition included a significant handover of extensive historical geological information, which is set to materially accelerate Macro’s targeted exploration efforts at the project.
The newly acquired geological data comprises results from 370 rock chip samples collected across the three tenements within Yandi South. Preliminary assessment by Macro’s technical team has revealed promising iron mineralisation. Notably, 20 samples recorded iron content above 60% Fe, with the highest assay reaching 66.2% Fe. Additionally, 75 samples returned results between 55% Fe and 60% Fe, and a further 22 samples exceeded 60% Fe. This comprehensive dataset has also led to the identification of nine new prospects outside the previously drilled area, earmarked for priority evaluation.
Macro’s Managing Director, Simon Rushton, expressed satisfaction with the acquisition, highlighting the project’s strategic location within a globally significant mining precinct. He stated that the additional geological information provided at completion, showing high-grade mineralisation at the surface, adds significant excitement and will expedite technical evaluation and planning for further exploration. The company’s inaugural drilling program is reportedly well advanced, focusing on diamond core drilling for infill, extensional, and metallurgical holes, targeting both existing areas and the newly identified prospects across the tenure package.
