Briscoe Group (ASX: BGP), a leading retailer of homewares and sporting goods across New Zealand and Australia, has announced unaudited sales results for the third quarter ended 25 October 2026, reporting a 1.98% increase in total group sales to $174.4 million. This marks the company’s fourth consecutive quarter of positive group sales growth, with year-to-date sales reaching $548.6 million, up 1.17% from the previous year.
The company’s sporting goods segment continued its strong performance, recording a 3.99% sales growth for the quarter. Homewares also saw a return to positive growth, increasing by 0.82%, a notable improvement from the previous quarter’s decline. Online sales proved particularly robust, growing by 5.77%, adding $1.8 million to sales and contributing 19.17% of total group sales for the quarter, up from 18.48% last year. Briscoe Group also noted a continued stabilisation of its gross profit percentage during the period.
Group Managing Director Rod Duke expressed satisfaction with the sales improvement, acknowledging the challenging retail environment. He highlighted ongoing strategic initiatives, including the successful relocation and refurbishment of Rebel Sport stores and the integration of Chemist Warehouse within the Briscoes Homeware footprint at Panmure. However, Duke noted that profitability continues to be affected by the tough market conditions, including elevated fuel prices and subdued discretionary spending. Furthermore, operating costs associated with a new North Island distribution centre and a SAP S/4HANA upgrade are impacting current year earnings ahead of expected future benefits.
Briscoe Group currently anticipates a full-year reported net profit after tax of up to $55 million, contingent on fourth-quarter trading performance. The company remains confident that its significant strategic investments will deliver substantial efficiencies and financial benefits, with these advantages expected to become more evident during the 2027/28 financial year.
