Yari Resources Limited (ASX: YAR) announced on 3 November 2026 it has advanced its comprehensive review of historical drilling and well data for the Arcadia Coal Project in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. Yari Resources Limited is building a significant coal position in Queensland’s Bowen Basin through its Rolleston South and Arcadia coal projects, as part of a district-scale consolidation strategy. The company’s geological database for Arcadia now encompasses records for 199 boreholes and wells, aiming to inform a potential update to the existing Coal Resource estimate.
This expanded database includes 43 historical coal exploration holes and 156 coal seam gas (CSG), petroleum, and stratigraphic wells. Initial assessments of historical CSG well data indicate potential for greater seam development in areas east of Arcadia’s current resource footprint. Interpreted seam depths in these areas are generally consistent, within ±0.30m, of those predicted by the 2017 geological model. Yari noted that the existing Coal Resource of 282.0Mt, comprising 164.0Mt Indicated and 118.0Mt Inferred, remains unchanged, with further validation and modelling required before any revised estimate can be determined.
Managing Director Courtney Taylor commented, “Bringing together 199 historical boreholes and wells gives us a cost-effective way to test Arcadia’s growth potential. We’re putting existing data to work, with a clear focus on the ground east of the current resource.” The company’s immediate work program involves completing detailed data capture for CSG wells, adding lithology logs, refining seam picking and correlation, and expanding the coal-quality database. Final geostatistical analysis, geological modelling, and validation are essential next steps to determine whether the work supports an refreshed Mineral Resource estimate and independent Competent Person sign-off.
