Gold and silver producer reports 50% quarter-on-quarter production increase and strengthened balance sheet, while adjusting calendar year 2026 output forecast.

Austral Gold Limited (ASX: AGD) has released its Q3 2026 Quarterly Activities Report, showcasing a substantial increase in gold equivalent ounces (GEOs) produced and a strengthened financial position. Austral Gold is a growing gold and silver mining producer, building a portfolio of quality assets across the Americas. The company focuses on production, exploration, and equity investments. For the three months ended 30 September 2026, Austral Gold reported a 50% surge in production from company-owned material to 6,479 GEOs, primarily driven by Casposo’s first full quarter processing its own ore. Guanaco’s output remained broadly steady despite challenging winter weather conditions.

Financially, Austral Gold moved to a net cash position of US$2.5 million, a significant improvement from the US$1.7 million net financial debt recorded at 30 June 2026. This was achieved by reducing financial debt by US$4.4 million to US$17.6 million, with cash and cash equivalents standing at US$20.1 million. The company reported revenue of US$23.4 million with an average cash margin of 32.5%, though sales volumes were below production due to export shipment timings. Unit costs for Guanaco were US$2,726/GEO (C1) and US$2,984/GEO (AISC), while Casposo reported US$3,123/GEO (C1) and US$4,032/GEO (AISC). The toll processing agreement with Challenger Gold was terminated post-quarter, with a US$1.0 million deferred payment due by April 2029.

Looking ahead, Austral Gold has revised its calendar year 2026 production guidance to 24,000–27,000 GEOs, down from the previous range of 27,000–33,000 GEOs. This adjustment primarily reflects a lowered outlook for Guanaco due to severe winter weather and operational constraints, while Casposo’s guidance remains unchanged. Casposo’s cost guidance was raised, with Guanaco’s costs expected towards the upper end of its maintained range. The company invested US$1.2 million in exploration activities across Chile and Argentina, and an updated Guanaco Technical Report supports a 14-year mine life with an after-tax Net Present Value of US$192.1 million.

Chief Executive Officer Stabro Kasaneva noted that the increased production and debt reduction represent important steps in strengthening the business. He acknowledged the impact of weather and maintenance on Guanaco’s throughput, stating the focus for the remainder of the year is on operational reliability, throughput, and cost control, to build long-term value for shareholders with robust mine life and active exploration programs.
