Orpheus Uranium Limited (ASX: ORP), an Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) listed exploration company primarily focused on uranium exploration in South Australia, the Northern Territory, and Western Australia, has announced significant high-grade uranium results from its inaugural reconnaissance program. The company reported rock chip samples returning grades of up to 4.1% U3O8 at its Conways tenement, located within the McArthur Project in the Northern Territory. This initial exploration success also identified elevated copper grades of up to 0.8% from near-surface rock-grab samples collected from basalt-hosted quartz veins. The announcement follows fieldwork that assessed ground conditions and engaged with local stakeholders, leading to the identification of a previously unmapped radiometric anomaly.
The reconnaissance program, conducted in the uranium-rich Pine Creek Orogen which hosts significant deposits such as Ranger and Jabiluka, identified radioactive anomalies extending approximately 60 metres along strike. Orpheus notes that mineralisation remains open along strike, with field observations suggesting potential sub-surface extensions. The discovery is considered a possible new basement-hosted uranium occurrence within an area of no previous historical surface exploration. Crucially, this promising target is spatially associated with a distinct gravity low and linear magnetic highs, establishing it as a priority area for accelerated follow-up investigation within the underexplored EL34013 tenement.
Managing Director Clinton Dubieniecki expressed the company’s excitement, stating that the results underscore the strengths of Orpheus’s technically driven project pipeline and its team’s expertise in uranium mineralisation across diverse geological settings. Mr Dubieniecki highlighted that the percent tenor of uranium at surface is “very rare in Australia,” providing a clear rationale for accelerated follow-up exploration. He added that this potential vein-hosted system significantly diversifies Orpheus’s portfolio alongside its existing sedimentary uranium assets. The company is continuing its follow-up ground reconnaissance program, with geochemical analysis of additional samples anticipated by December 2026.
