Resources & Energy Group Limited (ASX:REZ), an ASX-listed gold explorer and miner operating across the East Menzies Gold Project in Western Australia, has announced the receipt of a significant cash refund under the Federal Government’s Research and Development Tax Incentive (R&DTI) program. The company, which is advancing near-term gold production while building longer-term resource and exploration upside, confirmed that it received $428,266 from the Australian Taxation Office on 11 September 2026. This non-dilutive funding relates to eligible R&D activities conducted at its East Menzies Gold Project during the FY2025 financial year.

The $428,266 refund stems from eligible R&D expenditure totalling approximately $984,519 incurred throughout FY2025. The specific R&D activities covered by the claim were associated with REZ’s trial vat leach program at the East Menzies Gold Project. This work encompassed crucial metallurgical test work and process optimisation, all directed towards achieving low-cost gold recovery from the East Menzies ore. The R&DTI program, jointly administered by the Australian Taxation Office and AusIndustry, offers a refundable tax offset of 43.5% of eligible expenditure for companies with an aggregated turnover below $20 million.

Resources & Energy Group Limited has confirmed that no advance or loan facility is secured against this refund, allowing the company to retain the full amount. The funds received are earmarked for further exploration and drilling activities at the East Menzies Gold Project, REZ’s flagship Western Australian asset. The East Menzies Gold Project comprises a contiguous package of mining, exploration, and prospecting licences exceeding 100 km² within the Wiluna–Norseman Greenstone Belt, hosting several high-grade lode gold systems. The company plans to report this refund in its Appendix 5B for the September 2026 quarter under government grants and tax incentives.
