FMR Resources Limited (ASX:FMR) has announced the commencement of its inaugural drilling program at the La Martuca prospect, situated within the La Lorena Project in central Chile. This significant milestone comes just five months after the project’s acquisition. FMR Resources Limited is a diversified explorer with a focus on battery and critical minerals exploration and development. Its projects, including La Lorena, Los Warbos, and Llahuin JV in central Chile, are prospective for copper, gold, silver, and molybdenite.
The initial diamond drilling program at La Martuca is designed to cover a minimum of 2,000 metres and is expected to span 10 to 12 weeks. The drilling aims to test the continuity of mapped mineralised structures and investigate multiple modelled chargeability and magnetic features located both below and along strike from historical artisanal workings. The company anticipates receiving assay results approximately six to eight weeks following the completion of the first drillhole.
FMR Managing Director, Mr Oliver Kiddie, expressed enthusiasm regarding the program’s commencement. He noted that the +2,000m program across La Lorena would initially focus on La Martuca, targeting compelling features such as mineralisation below and beyond artisanal workings, as well as geophysical anomalies defined by 3D modelling. Mr Kiddie highlighted the exciting period ahead for shareholders as FMR continues to gather data and drill test multiple highly-ranked targets across its Chilean portfolio, with a stated aim of a company-making discovery.
The La Lorena Project is strategically located east of Combarbalá in Chile’s Coquimbo Region, an established mining district. Its geological setting, characterised by Eocene-aged volcanic and intrusive rocks, is considered favourable for porphyry and epithermal mineralisation, lying within a regionally significant Trans-Lithospheric Fault architecture.
