Temas Resources Corp (ASX: TIO) has announced the advancement of its collaborative metallurgical program with SAGA Metals Corp to Stage 2, focusing on detailed bench-scale optimisation of Temas’ proprietary Regenerative Chloride Leach (“RCL”) technology. Temas Resources Corp is a technology-driven critical minerals company advancing the commercialisation of its proprietary Regenerative Chloride Leach (RCL) Platform Technology. This platform is designed to recover titanium, vanadium, iron, and other critical minerals using a regenerative mixed chloride leaching process. The move follows successful Stage 1 validation, which demonstrated high recoveries of up to 90.8% titanium, 97.4% vanadium, and 91.5% iron from SAGA’s mineralisation.
The eight-week Stage 2 program is designed to move beyond initial metallurgical validation, aiming to establish optimised operating conditions and preliminary process design criteria for the RCL flowsheet. Key objectives include detailed optimisation of RCL leaching and downstream solvent extraction for titanium, vanadium, and iron. This phase is also set to generate sufficient pregnant leach solution to produce the first samples of high-purity titanium, vanadium, and iron products, establishing critical engineering criteria for future pilot-scale testing.
Temas Resources President and CEO, Tim Fernback, noted that Stage 2 signifies a shift from extraction proof-of-concept to an optimised process capable of yielding tangible products. This work is intended to provide the necessary engineering and metallurgical data to support a Gate 2 decision, potentially leading to a C$650,000–C$750,000 mini-pilot program. The systematic, stage-gated approach aims to progressively de-risk the flowsheet, laying the technical foundation for future Pre-Economic Assessment (PEA) and Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) level evaluations for SAGA’s project.
This advancement further solidifies the commercial viability of Temas’s RCL technology platform. Each successful third-party program reinforces RCL as a versatile solution applicable across multiple critical mineral projects, supporting Temas’s broader strategy of developing the technology for licensing, partnerships, and joint ventures within the critical minerals sector.
