PTR Minerals Limited (ASX: PTR), a critical minerals explorer primarily focused on titanium, copper, and rare earths projects in South Australia, has announced significant advancements at its Rosewood Titanium Project. The company confirmed the successful identification of substantial groundwater sources through recent drilling and the completion of a crucial Native Title Heritage Survey. These developments are pivotal for the project’s progression, particularly given the vital role water will play in the anticipated gravity-based processing flowsheet for the high-grade titanium deposit.
The hydrogeological drilling program, undertaken after the heritage survey, successfully intersected water-bearing aquifers on all three paleochannel targets tested around the Rosewood Titanium Project. This validation of targeting methodology significantly enhances the likelihood of identifying sufficient processing water close to proposed mining operations. As part of ongoing environmental baseline programs to support a planned Mining Lease application, five groundwater monitoring wells were also installed. Further detailed geophysical surveys and additional drilling are scheduled to evaluate water quality, yield, and long-term supply sustainability.
Complementing the water discovery, PTR Minerals successfully completed a comprehensive Native Title Heritage Survey in partnership with the Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatjara Aboriginal Corporation (AMYAC). This survey cleared land required for the hydrogeological drilling, future JORC Measured Resource infill drilling across the Rosewood Deposit, and regional exploration drilling on both brownfields and greenfields targets within the broader Muckanippie Project. PTR has emphasised its strong and collaborative relationship with AMYAC. Simultaneously, scoping study activities for Rosewood are advanced, with initial product samples already distributed for customer evaluation to inform process flowsheet development and product specifications.
