FY25 Results Highlight Impact of Battery Recall and Acquisition Costs

Janus Electric Holdings Limited (JNS) has released its Appendix 4E Preliminary Final Report for the financial year ended 30 June 2025. Janus Electric is focused principally on converting diesel trucks to electric using its patented battery-swap systems and generating revenue through conversion fees, battery hire, and energy consumption. The report, lodged with the ASX, reveals a challenging year marked by a significant increase in net loss despite revenue from ordinary activities.

The company reported a net loss of $8,720,648, a 94% increase from the $4,505,925 loss in the previous corresponding period. Revenue from ordinary activities decreased by 43% year-over-year, falling from $2,990,331 to $1,702,526. This decline was primarily attributed to a battery recall that significantly disrupted customer vehicle usage. However, the report indicates a noticeable improvement in revenues during the second half of FY25, driven by increased operating cycles and usage.

Key areas of revenue improvement included conversions, which reached $697,395, battery hire charges at $256,787, and energy consumption revenue of $153,983. The report also details significant one-off costs related to capital raising activities and the acquisition of ReNu Energy Limited, now named Janus Electric Holdings Limited. These costs, along with non-recurring non-cash interest expenses and fair value losses associated with convertible notes, contributed to the increased net loss.

Despite the losses, Janus Electric highlights a transformational acquisition and a strategic pivot toward electrification of heavy road transport through the reverse takeover of Janus Electric Pty Ltd. Subsequent to year-end, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with EVUNI Pte Ltd for exclusive distribution and deployment of Janus’ technology in Africa, including a prospective $5 million investment.
