Verity Resources (ASX: VRL) is commencing a multi-stage drilling program at the Korong deposit, part of its Monument gold project in Western Australia. Verity Resources is focused on the exploration and development of resource projects. Its primary asset is the Monument gold project located in Western Australia.
The initial phase involves 54 reverse circulation (RC) drill holes aimed at the 139,000-ounce Korong deposit. The broader goal is to expand Monument’s current resource of 3.3 million tonnes at 1.4 grams per tonne. The project is strategically positioned adjacent to Genesis Minerals’ Laverton gold project, which hosts 3.3 million ounces and operates a 3.1Mt per annum mill.
The drilling campaign, covering over 3,600 metres, seeks to increase geological confidence and upgrade the resource classification from inferred to indicated. This upgrade is intended to support future scoping studies. According to Director Patrick Volpe, the program will take approximately three weeks and will include infill drilling, twinning of historical drill holes, and step-out drilling to potentially expand the mineralisation footprint.
The RC program will also gather samples for initial metallurgical test work to assess the properties of gold mineralisation within a significant banded iron formation (BIF) target. Exploration will continue at the nearby Waihi resource to further enhance Monument’s prospectivity. Recently, Verity appointed Dr Rick Gordon of Xirlatem Pty Ltd as a strategic advisor to oversee the project’s technical aspects, including geology, drilling, and resource growth.
