Opawica Explorations (TSX-V:OPW), a junior gold explorer focused on Quèbec’s Abitibi Greenstone Belt, is using artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate its exploration efforts. The company aims to generate vast datasets and unlock potential discoveries more efficiently. Opawica has three exploration-stage projects – Bazooka, Arrowhead and McWatters – located along the Cadillac-Larder Lake Fault Zone.
CEO Blake Morgan highlighted that AI and machine learning provide their geological team with a significant advantage. The technology helps process the large amounts of data collected, leading to a clearer understanding of the rock formations while saving time. Opawica has drilled approximately 4km at the Bazooka Project, intersecting multiple mineralised zones with visible gold, and is awaiting assays.
Opawica’s primary focus is the Bazooka and Arrowhead projects. Historical drilling at these sites returned notable intercepts, including 5.79m @ 77.18 grams per ton gold and 20m @ 7.7g/t gold. The company plans to continue drilling at both projects with the goal of defining a maiden resource. Opawica has completed three drilling programs since 2022 and expects to keep delivering a steady flow of news from the Bazooka and Arrowhead projects.
Opawica believes its projects share geological similarities with nearby “billion-dollar deposits.” There are seven active producing mines within a 10km radius of Opawica’s landholding, operated by companies like IAMGOLD and Agnico Eagle. Opawica Explorations is a Canadian-based mineral exploration company focused on acquiring and developing high-quality mineral properties. The company’s goal is to create shareholder value through exploration success and strategic partnerships.
