The Environmental Group (EGL), listed on the ASX, has received a $1.9 million order to design and construct a PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) treatment plant. The Environmental Group is focused on delivering innovative solutions that protect air and water environments, offering services such as dust suppression and wastewater treatment. EGL’s core mission revolves around sustainability through practical and scalable infrastructure.
This order signifies a major step in the commercial application of EGL’s separation technique. The method uses foam fractionation technology to remove 99% of PFAS from complex waste streams without needing chemical pre-treatment. The new plant will incorporate advanced automation and remote monitoring, ensuring operational safety, efficiency and reduced labour requirements for the customer.
The customer, undisclosed, is described as a long-standing operator in the recycling industry. The company recovers a range of materials from landfill waste, converting them into saleable products, and is aligned with circular economy principles. They have partnerships across government and industry supporting urban and regional development through sustainable resource management.
Jason Dixon, chief executive officer, stated that the order reinforces the company’s core sustainability mission by delivering practical and scalable infrastructure that directly addresses critical environmental challenges. He added that this project underscores the increasing demand for effective PFAS solutions, highlighting the company’s ability to meet that demand with proven Australian-engineered technology, setting a new benchmark for the treatment of contaminated soil and water.
