Morning Report: US sharemarkets were mixed on Monday

Investors rotated back into growth-orientated shares before the key US Federal Reserve meeting later in the week. The Nasdaq index rose for the sixth time in the past seven sessions, lifted by gains in shares of Apple (+2.5%). Tesla shares climbed 1.3% after CEO Elon Musk said that the electric car maker may resume bitcoin transactions. JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon suggested that Wall Street’s pandemic-era trading boom could be drawing to a close. Shares of the bank slid 1.7%, weighing on the Dow Jones index. The Dow Jones index closed down by 86 points or 0.3%. But the S&P 500 index rose by 0.2% to a record closing high. And the Nasdaq index was higher by 105 points or 0.7%, hitting an all-time closing high.
