Morning Report: Mixed fortunes for Wall St pave the way for a flat start for ASX

US sharemarkets were mixed on Friday. Rising bond yields served to push financials higher and technology lower. Banks rose by 1.8% with tech shares down 0.7%. A 6.8% lift in shares in Boeing supported the Dow Jones and S&P 500 indexes. At the close, the Dow Jones index was up by 293 points or 0.9% to record highs. The S&P 500 index lifted by 0.1% to record highs. But the Nasdaq index was down by 79 points or 0.6%. Over the week the Dow rose by 4.1% – the biggest weekly gain since November. The S&P 500 rose by 2.6%. And the Nasdaq rose by 3.1%.
