SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited (SKC.ASX) today announced it has entered into a sale and purchase agreement for The Grand Hotel and its associated business assets. SkyCity, an operator of integrated entertainment complexes including casinos, hotels, and convention centres primarily in Australia and New Zealand, will divest the Auckland-based property for $221,000,000. The purchasers are Eden Global Capital Private Limited and Auckland City Collective Limited (EGC and ACCL), described as constituents of a privately owned, diversified property investment and development organisation with interests across Australia, Singapore, and Southeast Asia.

The transaction remains conditional, notably requiring consent from the New Zealand Overseas Investment Office. SkyCity anticipates these conditions will be satisfied through the remainder of the year, with settlement targeted for mid-December 2026. Following the sale, SkyCity has agreed to continue managing and operating The Grand Hotel on behalf of the incoming purchaser for a transitional period, expected to conclude by 30 June 2027. This divestment aligns with SkyCity’s previously announced asset monetisation programme.

The capital proceeds generated from this programme are earmarked for debt repayment, providing SkyCity with enhanced financial flexibility to navigate prevailing market conditions. SkyCity Chief Executive Jason Walbridge expressed satisfaction with the binding agreement, noting that the sale of The Grand Hotel will result in proceeds exceeding commitments to shareholders, materially strengthening the balance sheet and enhancing financial flexibility.

Scott Collins, Director of EGC and ACCL, highlighted the group’s pleasure in redeploying capital into New Zealand. He stated that the acquisition’s nature, asset selection, and timing aligned well with their investment aspirations, and they look forward to supporting the SkyCity Auckland precinct’s continued prominence and success.
