Clever Culture Systems targets sales growth as pharma adoption expands

CEO Brent Barnes outlines the company’s land-and-expand strategy as APAS Independence gains traction with major global pharmaceutical customers.

Clever Culture Systems (ASX: CC5) is targeting increased adoption of its AI-powered APAS Independence platform as it expands within major pharmaceutical manufacturers. The system automates the reading and reporting of microbiology culture plates used in environmental monitoring, replacing a largely manual process while improving data integrity and efficiency.

CEO and Managing Director Brent Barnes said the company has established a global installed base of 37 APAS Independence instruments and secured eight major pharmaceutical customers. AstraZeneca has purchased 12 instruments across global sites, while Novo Nordisk has expanded to three, supporting CC5’s strategy of initially placing systems with customers before expanding across their manufacturing networks.

CC5 expects FY27 to mark a step-up in commercial activity, with more than 50% of sales expected to come from existing customers. The company is targeting an installed base of around 100 instruments, which would support growth in its software and recurring revenue streams.
