Reward Minerals Ltd (ASX: RWD) has announced the commencement of diamond drilling at its Jackpot Au-Cu Prospect, part of the Mountain Pond Gold Project in Newfoundland, Canada. This marks a significant step for the company, which is an ASX-listed advanced-stage sulphate of potash technology and development company, also holding a suite of early-stage mineral exploration projects in Newfoundland, Canada, prospective for gold and base metals. The maiden seven-hole diamond drilling program is designed to test the depth extensions of an outcropping quartz vein and shear zone that previously yielded high-grade assays from rock chip sampling.
The drilling initiative aims to determine the continuity and scale of mineralisation beyond the surface outcrop at the Jackpot Prospect. This will be the first drill testing ever completed at the Mountain Pond Project, which covers approximately 10 square kilometres of road-accessible, underexplored terrain. The program is expected to comprise around 600 metres of HQ-oriented diamond core holes, ranging from 40 to 160 metres in depth. Reward Minerals anticipates the program will take approximately three weeks to complete, with assay results to be released to the market as they become available.
In conjunction with the drilling, Reward Minerals has also reported final multi-element assay results from project-wide soil sampling at Mountain Pond. These results have successfully delineated new copper-dominant targets at the Wildcard and Ante Up Prospects, warranting further exploration. A new copper-dominant prospect was defined at Ante Up with a peak soil value of 510ppm Cu, while Wildcard returned significant copper anomalism over an 800-metre strike length. These prospects, along with Bingo, Jackpot, and High Stakes, collectively define a prospective corridor spanning at least 2.2 kilometres of strike. The Mountain Pond Project offers a compelling, untested opportunity for a gold-copper discovery, particularly within the Sullivan Pond Fault corridor, which is identified as a significant focus for gold and base metal mineralisation.
