Horizon Gold (ASX: HRN) is advancing the restart of its Gum Creek Gold Project in Western Australia, following a definitive feasibility study outlining a large-scale, free-milling open pit operation. The study targets 880,000 ounces of recovered gold over an initial 10-year mine life, including average production of around 98,000 ounces per annum for the first five years.
Managing Director and CEO Scott Williamson says the open pit development provides a relatively simple base case, with further potential from underground resources and exploration. Around 416,000 ounces of free-milling underground resources and the 400,000-ounce Wilsons underground resource currently sit outside the DFS mine plan.
Horizon is also continuing exploration across its 80-kilometre greenstone belt, including drilling at Swan and Kingfisher, while progressing approvals towards a Final Investment Decision targeted for the second quarter of 2027.
