Strategic Energy Resources Limited (ASX:SER), a specialised under-cover explorer focused on discovering world-class copper deposits in Queensland, has announced the completion of its acquisition of the Diamantina Copper-Gold Project from Anglo American. The project, located 280km south of Cloncurry in western Queensland, comprises two granted exploration licences and four adjoining exploration licence applications, covering over 1,800 square kilometres. The company is eager to begin exploration activities to follow up on mineralised intercepts previously drilled at the Elizabeth Springs prospects.
The first milestone payment, consisting of $150,000 cash and $150,000 in SER shares, has been settled. Anglo American now holds 15,000,000 SER shares. The second and final payment of a further $150,000 cash and $150,000 in SER shares is due upon the execution of a landholder agreement or 12 months after completion.
SER has also executed two research agreements with the Resources Technology and Critical Minerals (RCTM) Trailblazer Program. These programs aim to develop advanced geochemical and geophysical exploration techniques in collaboration with James Cook University, Mount Isa Mines, and Anglo American. The research projects will focus on utilising isotope geochemistry and combining geological and petrophysical data to model an ore body’s geophysical response.
Looking ahead, Strategic Energy Resources is progressing towards securing a land access agreement, with a field trip scheduled for early 2026. Further geophysical surveys and a drill program are planned for mid-2026. The company believes that these steps will significantly advance their understanding of the Diamantina project, demonstrating commitment to research and development.
