American Uranium (ASX:AMU) has announced the early mobilisation of a drill rig to its flagship Lo Herma ISR Uranium Project in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin. American Uranium is focused on developing uranium resources. The company aims to expand and upgrade the existing 8.57 million pound uranium resource at Lo Herma, marking a significant step in advancing the project.
The resource development drilling program will be completed in two phases. Phase 1, commencing this week, will focus on step-out drilling to expand the resource base, targeting known mineralised rollfronts north of proposed Mine Units 1 and 2. Phase 2, scheduled for early 2026, will target an increase in the proportion of Indicated or Measured category resources within the planned mine units to increase resource confidence. The drilling permit allows for up to 121 holes and 37,500 metres of drilling.
Bruce Lane, CEO and Executive Director of American Uranium, expressed enthusiasm about commencing Phase 1 ahead of schedule, stating that the company is in a strong position to complete the first phase of resource expansion drilling this quarter, with an interim Mineral Resource Estimate update expected in early 2026. He added that the program marks an important step towards advancing one of America’s most promising near-term, low-cost ISR uranium projects.
With all key permits, bonds, and site access secured, the company anticipates that the work undertaken will feed into a further resource upgrade and updated Scoping Study in the first half of 2026. This study is expected to demonstrate Lo Herma’s potential to deliver similar economic potential to ISR uranium mines currently being planned or constructed in Wyoming.
