Element 25 (ASX: E25) is advancing its strategy to become a major supplier of low-carbon, sustainable manganese ore and EV battery-grade High Purity Manganese Sulphate Monohydrate (HPMSM) to global markets. Element 25 is an Australian company focused on developing its 100%-owned Butcherbird Manganese Project in Western Australia and establishing downstream processing facilities.
The company’s strategic vision includes a three-tiered approach. Firstly, expanding the Butcherbird Manganese Mine to produce 1.1Mt/a of manganese ore. Secondly, constructing a US-based HPMSM processing facility in Louisiana, targeting 65,000 tonnes per annum, backed by offtake and funding agreements with General Motors and Stellantis. Finally, Element 25 aims to expand its HPMSM production globally, targeting markets in Europe and Asia.
The Butcherbird project boasts a world-class manganese resource, containing over 270 million tonnes with potential for further expansion, located in a Tier-1 jurisdiction. A recent feasibility study supports an 18-year reserve at 1.1Mt per annum production. The project will benefit from a AU$50 million senior debt facility from the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) for the Butcherbird expansion. This expansion will involve a redesigned processing facility to optimise scale, efficiencies, and reduce operating costs.
Element 25’s integrated strategy aims to provide a secure and ethical supply of manganese for both traditional and new energy markets. The company’s Louisiana HPMSM project has received a US$166 million grant from the Department of Energy (DOE), underpinning the project’s capital stack. The company also signed a MoU with Nissan Chemical Corporation to jointly develop HPMSM capacity in Japan. Element 25 is committed to innovation and waste minimisation, utilizing cleaner process technologies to produce cost-competitive and environmentally responsible HPMSM.
