Kookabookra exploration confirms new prospects ahead of maiden drilling program in NSW.

Thunderbird Resources (ASX: THB) has reported promising developments at its Kookabookra gold project in north-eastern New South Wales. Thunderbird Resources is an Australian-based mineral exploration company focused on identifying and developing resource projects. The company’s latest surface sampling, its first exploration initiative at Kookabookra, has confirmed several new prospects containing high-grade gold. Thunderbird will now analyse the final results from a recently completed induced polarisation (IP) survey at the Mannix and Mt Secret prospects.

The company plans to use these datasets, in conjunction with geochemical soil sampling, rock chip sampling, and geological mapping programs, to refine its approach to the Kookabookra drilling program. Thunderbird anticipates commencing the drilling program by the end of 2025. Executive chair George Ventouras noted the surprising lack of modern exploration in the area, given its apparent potential.

Mr. Ventouras stated that the early results from Kookabookra have validated the company’s decision to acquire its NSW portfolio. Thunderbird is also enthusiastic about the Rockvale project, as they continue to secure land access. Earlier this month, Thunderbird announced the completion of initial reconnaissance work at the Bear Hill and Butchers Reef prospects, in addition to other targets in the eastern portion of Kookabookra.

Thunderbird has identified and verified over 400 historical mine workings using Light Detection and Ranging data and anticipates receiving assay results from 79 samples in August. Follow-up work is planned for the Bear Hill/Butchers Reef area, including geochemical soil and stream sediment sampling, as well as geological mapping.
