Ultranode™ technology demonstrates promising cycle life for high-silicon anodes

AnteoTech Ltd (ASX: ADO), a company that supplies advanced material solutions to the battery materials and life sciences markets, has announced a significant technical achievement for its Ultranode™ technology. The company’s 70% Silicon Ultranode™ X anode has achieved 890 cycles with 80% capacity retention, and 1,070 cycles at 70% capacity retention, marking a key performance milestone. This advancement highlights the potential of Ultranode™ technology to deliver enhanced battery performance, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability benefits across diverse applications.

The Ultranode™ technology is designed to increase energy density by over 30% compared to traditional graphite anodes. AnteoTech’s expanded Ultranode™ portfolio allows for tailored anode configurations with varying silicon content, suitable for electric vehicles (EVs), drones, power tools, and specialty batteries. The company offers three Ultranode™ configurations: Ultranode™ 95 for high-energy, low-cycle applications; Ultranode™ 70 for medium-energy and cycle-life needs; and Ultranode™ X for high-energy, high-cycle applications like EVs.

Specifically, the Ultranode™ X configuration has demonstrated extended cycle life, with ongoing tests targeting 1,000 cycles at 80% capacity retention. Key features of the latest tests at AnteoTech’s Brisbane facility include longer cycle life, customisation driven by customer needs, coating capacities between 900 and 1,100mAh/g, and high first cycle efficiencies exceeding 90%. AnteoTech is now focusing its sales efforts on EV cell manufacturers supplying OEMs, leveraging insights gained from an evaluation program with Mercedes-Benz.
