Li-S Energy (ASX:LIS) has appointed Paladin Defense Services as its US representative. This move is aimed at enhancing its engagement with the US Department of Defense and major military contractors. Li-S Energy is an Australian battery technology company focused on developing lithium-sulfur batteries. The company’s batteries are known for being lightweight, energy-dense, and having enhanced safety features.
Paladin Defense Services, based in Kentucky, specialises in integrating advanced technologies into US military and security applications. Their government acquisition status allows access to sole-source US government contracts up to US$7.5 million, potentially reducing procurement timelines. This arrangement offers Li-S Energy the potential to expedite funded testing, trials, and contract opportunities within the US defence sector.
According to Li-S Energy, the partnership facilitates faster market access, in-market advocacy, and targeted engagements. CEO Lee Finniear stated that Paladin brings unmatched credibility, access, and insight, which will significantly accelerate the company’s ability to engage with key decision-makers and convert interest into action. With a market capitalisation of $99.23 million, Li-S Energy is positioning its batteries for use in unmanned air, sea, and land systems, special operations, and next-generation defence platforms.
The company highlighted that the growing importance of drone and counter-drone systems in global defence strategy presents a significant opportunity. Li-S Energy believes its cell technology can deliver a substantial improvement in this area. The company is focused on leveraging its technology to meet the evolving needs of the defence sector.
