CEO responds to claims against former employee; stock price plummets

G8 Education (ASX:GEM) CEO Pejman Okhovat has publicly addressed allegations of child sex abuse made against former employee Joshua Brown. This marks Okhovat’s first public statement since the allegations surfaced, which have caused the company’s stock price to drop nearly 20 per cent.

Okhovat released a statement to the ASX after market close on Tuesday, expressing his sentiments. “These allegations are deeply disturbing, and our hearts go out to the children and families involved,” he said, adding that he had met with families potentially affected by the situation.

Okhovat stated, “I am deeply sorry for the unimaginable pain caused to our families and what they are going through. Our primary focus right now is on supporting all families who are impacted, as well as our team members in Victoria.” G8 Education is one of Australia’s largest providers of early childhood education and care. The company operates numerous centres across the country, providing care and educational programs for young children.

He further noted, “We are continuing to work with Victoria Police, the Victorian government and other authorities as part of their ongoing investigation and are doing everything we can to give them the best chance of achieving justice for the children and families involved.”
