Copper Search (ASX:CUS) has expanded its exploration portfolio by staking two new tenements prospective for heavy mineral sands (HMS) within the Eromanga Basin Project in South Australia. This strategic move follows the company’s identification of HMS potential on its existing ground near William Creek, where grab samples showed promising concentrations of zircon, ilmenite, leucoxene, and rutile.
Fieldwork is scheduled to commence next week, focusing on detailed mapping and sampling activities to prioritise drill targets across the newly acquired tenements. Copper Search also plans to conduct a heritage survey by the end of August 2025, collaborating with the Arabana Traditional Owners in preparation for the initial drilling program.
The planned 4,000-metre aircore drilling program will target the Nilpinna, Anna Creek, and Eddy prospects during the third and fourth quarters of 2025, contingent upon receiving necessary approvals. Copper Search Managing Director Duncan Chessell highlighted the potential of this new venture, noting that the discovery of HMS presents a ‘high-impact’ opportunity for the company.
In addition to its HMS exploration, Copper Search continues to advance its copper-gold assets in New South Wales. An infill gravity survey is underway at the Byrock Project to refine high-priority drill targets, with completion expected shortly. The company has also applied for co-funded drilling and geophysics grants from the New South Wales Government, with results anticipated in September. Copper Search is a junior mineral explorer focused on discovering multiple projects and commodities within geological domains containing established profitable mines.
