True North Copper (ASX:TNC) has announced the identification of new zones of copper-gold-cobalt mineralisation at the Great Australia Mine (GAM) within its Cloncurry Copper Project in Queensland. A reverse circulation drilling program highlighted these zones, prompting further exploration and resource definition planning. The company intends to conduct a re-modelled 3D induced polarisation (IP) survey to improve targeting and refine exploration drilling across GAM. Subsequent 3D modelling will integrate downhole optical scanning, geological data, and mineralisation information.
The company is designing a resource definition drilling program for the Copperhead and Paddock South prospects and follow-up drilling at Coppermine Creek and below the Orphan Shear prospect. The newly identified zones demonstrate significant grades and continuity, enhancing the project’s economic and strategic potential. At the Copperhead prospect, drilling discovered two major north-south mineralised structures, spanning more than 350m beyond the known GAM resource footprint. Assays include notable results such as 14m @ 0.81% copper, 0.12 grams per tonne gold, and 749 parts per million (ppm) cobalt from 68m, including a higher-grade section of 6m @ 1.37% copper, 0.22g/t gold, and 1,040ppm cobalt. True North Copper is also awaiting results from a drilling program at the Mt Oxide Project, which is expected to further enhance its copper inventory.
