Emeco Holdings (ASX:EHL) has entered into a five-year agreement with XCMG Mining Equipment Australia, designating Emeco’s subsidiary, Force Equipment, as its preferred service provider in Australia. This partnership will focus on delivering comprehensive aftersales services for XCMG-supplied mining equipment, including support for Fortescue (ASX:FMG). The services encompass equipment commissioning, training, on-site labor and field maintenance, warranty servicing and repairs, off-site rebuild and engineering services, and project management.
Force Equipment will leverage its existing national workshops and labor force, integrating them with XCMG’s technicians, parts, and equipment inventory. A key aspect of the collaboration involves developing electric capabilities and support plans for long-term mining operations and fleet maintenance. The initial deployment of equipment is anticipated by mid-2026. This agreement follows Fortescue’s November 2024 contract with XCMG for over 100 pieces of zero-emissions heavy mobile equipment, valued at over US$400 million, intended for its Pilbara mining operations. Emeco’s CEO, Ian Testrow, emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership, highlighting its role in enhancing technology-driven capabilities and supporting the energy transition within the mining sector. He noted that the collaboration with XCMG marks Emeco’s first step into battery-electric technology, positioning the company as a leading Australian maintenance service provider for battery-electric mining fleets.
