Lodestar Minerals (ASX:LSR) is intensifying its exploration efforts at the Darwin Project in northern Chile, targeting iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG) and porphyry-type deposits. The company will conduct systematic exploration using geophysical surveys and geochemistry analysis to study alteration assemblages typical of these deposit types. A proposed airborne magnetic survey will cover areas lacking detailed surveys, aiming to identify targets under cover and refine the focus of previous drilling efforts. This follows Lodestar’s maiden reverse circulation drilling program, which confirmed IOCG-style mineralization but suggested the main mineralisation zone was not intersected. Managing Director Ed Turner emphasized the geological insights gained, noting the presence of multiple quartz veins and alteration assemblages indicative of a significant mineralized system. Geological mapping has also revealed new areas with strong potential for porphyry-style mineralization. The Darwin Project is strategically located in a region known for copper deposits and gold-rich IOCG deposits.
