Unico Silver (ASX:USL) has announced promising final results from its phase-two diamond drilling program at the Cerro Leon Project in Argentina, confirming multiple new discoveries. The 9,143-meter drill program across 63 holes identified the Savary, Kasia, MS Link, and Silvia prospects. Highlights include Savary returning 30 meters at 293 grams per tonne silver equivalent, and Karina yielding 7.6 meters at 980g/t silver equivalent from shallow depths, with individual assays reaching 5,638g/t silver.
Phase three drilling, expanded to 6,500 meters, is now underway, aiming to convert mineralization to indicated status and explore the broader potential of the Cerro Leon district. Managing Director Todd Williams highlighted Karina’s impressive high-grade shallow oxide silver results. The Cerro Leon Project, comprised of the Pinguino, Sierra Blanca, and Conserrat districts, boasts a total indicated and inferred resource of 16.5 million tonnes at 172g/t for 91.3 million silver-equivalent ounces. Located in the pro-mining Santa Cruz region, the project benefits from a low risk of political or environmental impediments, attracting major mining companies like Newmont and AngloGold Ashanti.
