Regional Express Holdings Limited appoints administrators to sell or recapitalize the company.

The voluntary administrators of Regional Express Holdings Limited (ASX: REX) have commenced a sale and/or recapitalisation process for the airline group.

Administrators Adam Nikitins, Samuel Freeman, and Justin Walsh of Ernst & Young have appointed Houlihan Lokey to manage the process, which is expected to attract competitive interest from potential buyers or investors.

Regional Express, known as Rex Airlines, entered voluntary administration earlier this month after financial struggles and mounting debt. The airline operates regional and domestic routes across Australia, competing with major carriers like Qantas and Virgin Australia.

The sale process will determine whether the airline is sold, restructured, or receives a financial lifeline through new investment. The administrators have not provided a timeline for the process but are expected to update stakeholders in the coming weeks.
