Narryer Metals (ASX: NYM) has reported further high-grade titanium mineralisation from drilling at the Muckanippie Titanium Project in South Australia, with significant results from multiple prospects on its joint venture (JV) tenure with Petratherm Limited (ASX: PTR).
The latest drilling campaign, covering 42 of 49 holes, confirms extensive titanium-rich heavy mineral (HM) mineralisation in saprolite clays at the Nardoo-Duke and Claypan prospects. Key results include:
- Nardoo Prospect: 44m @ 29.4% HM from surface to end of hole
- Duke Prospect: 61m @ 19.7% HM from surface to end of hole
- Claypan Prospect: 45m @ 27.0% HM from 6m depth
The results complement the Rosewood Discovery, which also partly sits on Narryer’s JV ground, highlighting the project’s potential scale.
Strong potential for titanium development
Narryer’s Executive Chairman, Richard Bevan, described the drill results as outstanding, stating:
“The mineralisation thickness, high grades, and possible strike length at these new prospects could make Muckanippie a significant titanium deposit. These results strengthen our confidence in the project’s potential, and we look forward to further heavy mineral analysis and metallurgical testing in the coming weeks.”
The mineralisation is hosted in saprolitic clays, with titanium-bearing heavy minerals such as ilmenite and leucoxene. The shallow, free-digging nature of the deposits suggests low-cost mining potential using conventional heavy mineral sands processing techniques.
Next steps
- Further heavy mineral separation testing and metallurgical studies to assess mineral recovery.
- Additional drilling to define the extent of mineralisation along a 16km magnetic trend.
- Exploration of new targets to expand the resource potential within the JV area.
With titanium classified as a critical mineral in Australia, the Muckanippie Project could play a role in securing a domestic supply for industrial and emerging high-tech applications.
