Morning Report: US sharemarkets ended mixed on Tuesday

Economic data was similarly mixed and investors continue to monitor progress with a US$1.9 trillion stimulus bill through Congress. The energy sector and banks fell but communication services rose slightly. At the close of trade, the Dow Jones index was lower by 10 points or less than 0.1%. The S&P 500 index fell by 0.1%. But the Nasdaq index was up by 20 points or 0.1% to record highs.
