Next Week At A Glance

The US earnings season is now entering its long tail as the Australian earnings season begins to ramp up next week. Given the re-rating the local market has enjoyed this past month, those results will need to be good.

Australia’s economic data highlight next week is housing finance.

The UK and Japan will release December quarter GDP numbers.

In the US, the Fed’s preferred PCE measure of inflation is out tonight followed by CPI and PPI data next week. Friday brings industrial production, retail sales and consumer sentiment numbers.

China will be back from holiday, with trade and inflation data due. Stand by for the usual New Year distortions.

Note that as the local earnings season gets into full swing, we should also be mindful that results are accompanied by a lagged round of stocks going ex-dividend post result. Commonwealth Bank ((CBA)) on Wednesday is a case in point.

There are too many result releases from here on in to individually highlight. Please refer to the FNArena Calendar (link above).
