• Global equity markets were mixed for the week with the S&P/ASX 200 and the S&P 500 gaining slightly. The EURO STOXX 50 ended the week down by 1% following concerns about the European financial sector. Deutsche Bank, the main target of market speculation, rallied strongly on Friday to finish the week in positive territory. Asian bourses mostly declined for the week.

• WTI crude was the big mover for the week, rising 8.5% following OPEC’s proposed production cut. BetaShares Crude Oil Index ETF (OOO) and resource sector ETFs were the best performers for the week.

• The Australian dollar strengthened over the week, closing above US 76.6c.

• The Australian ETF market saw net inflows of A$215m into domestically domiciled ETFs, with the majority into the SPDR S&P/ASX 200 Fund (STW).
